Project 52:24 & 25... Oops

So, the last two weeks have been JAM PACKED for us... and it's been wonderful! We had a wedding and birthday parties and lots of family fun. There have been sunburns from swimming and lots of great food.

I love this.

However, that just means I hadn't had time to edit photos or post them. So, here are two Project 52's.
Sorry for the delay.

The guys took on a project at my in-laws that, because of a sudden thunderstorm, turned the yard into a bit of a muddy mess. Fortunately, there was good moods all around and lots of smiles in the process. The little mister sure loved the skid steer. And, Nana got to build a fire! What's not to love?

Some other big changes in the family are that my hubby's cousin got married and his brother got a puppy!

The hubby and I are so grateful for our marriage and wish his cousin and her new husband the best. It's hard, it can be frustrating, but it's so rewarding. There is something indescribably terrifying and comforting in having someone so close to you. I adore my hubby, and I think that is because I get to see him at his best AND his worst. I get to see his character shine through in the hard moments, see him humble himself when he screws up, show him grace in those moments (and receive it when I need it), and see him succeed in so many things. I get to see him be tender, thoughtful, loving, kind. I get to be the one to benefit from the man he is. I get the privilege of raising his babies. I get to see that I'm not the only one to have a bad day now and then. I get to learn from him. He's taught me that being happy is a much better default than being crabby (my usual tendency). We get to be a team. I don't want to spend my life with anyone else.

We hope all these things for his cousin and new husband.

And, we have a new puppy in the family! My hubby's brother and wife got a new little man. He is just precious.

I put this under the title of "lifelong" because once you have a pet, they stick with you forever. No, they don't usually live as long as we do, but we always have the stories, the memories and the companionship.

They become part of our story. And, we love it.

We're gonna be on the road for a lot of next week. I'm gonna do my best to have week 26 up on time. Can't believe this project will be half-way done!

Project 52:23 Change is...

Once upon a time, the little mister let me take pictures like this:

Now, I usually only get pictures like this:

I wasn't ready for that.

Maybe someday he'll sit for a picture and NOT make it look like this:

I can dream can't I?

At least for now the little miss still lets me take pictures like this:

Hope you have better luck photographing 2 year olds.  :)

Project 52:22 Change is...

Last weekend we said good-bye to an old friend.

My brother affectionately referred to our old basketball hoop as: a hazard. Poor thing. She's given us so many great memories. Thankfully, the guys are planning on replacing her.

My mom noted her demise on Facebook and received SO MANY comments so quickly! My favorites were the comments between the family members who used this hoop as a kid. It's been on the garage since my dad and his siblings were kids. Many great games were played on that hoop. Trick shots of all kinds. Even games late into the night with the spot light attached to Gma and Gpa's porch upstairs. You knew it was time to end the game when Gpa came out and just turned the light off. Game over. :)

Anyway, my uncle and aunt had my favorite convo:

Aunt: I am so sad! I remember all of my brothers playing basketball.
Uncle: You shoulda been out there with us... You had a good shot!
Aunt: Actually I remember all my brothers cute friends !!!!!!
Uncle: Oh boy!

And, that's the truth! I remember all my brother's cute friends, too  ;)

I guess I figured my little cutie would get to play on it, too. I'm VERY glad they're going to replace it! Some good things shouldn't come to an end.

And, just for kicks, here's a newer pict of my and my kiddos. We can't wait to see daddy!

Project 52:21 Change is...

Everything can be different when you're playing pretend with a 2 year old!

This momma is really really glad that Papa and the Little Mister were only pretending to smoke their (pretzel) cigars.  :)  I'm not quite ready for him to be old enough for real ones!

Project 52:20 Change is...

Hubby left for CO last week. While that journey deserves a blog post of its own, for now I will leave you with the fact that he's gone, the kids and I are still living with my in-laws, waiting for support to come in so we can all move to CO.

I know when it's time to move it will seem too soon. We love living with family around. We are so blessed by our family. But, we're also ready. And, waiting.

And waiting...

Project 52: Change is...

Who knew that they could be such good friends when she's not even 3 months old yet?

Who knew how much my heart would melt when I see him wanting to constantly hug and kiss her?

Who knew how much she would light up when her brother comes near her?

Who knew that #2 would fit into our lives so seamlessly?

Who knew... and didn't tell me?!

I am blessed.

(and this is so late because I spent the day focusing on my kiddos)

Project 52 Change is...

This past weekend we had the privilege of welcoming my husband's grandpa home from the Honor Flight. If you haven't heard about it, check it out here. The veteran's and a guest get on a plane EARLY in the morning and head to DC to visit the war memorial and spend the day being celebrated for the service they provided to our country.

They also have some fun surprises like mail call (where they receive letters from their family members thanking them for their service) and THOUSANDS of people welcoming them home when they touch back down at the airport. I've been to Mitchell International Airport when its been busy in the past but this was amazing! People were bunched together through the whole airport... all the way to the parking garage. When the parade of veterans came through, everyone stood and cheered, waved their flags, and held up the posters they made... for all 62 of them. Each vet had so many people step forward to shake their hands and say 'thank you.' Most vets and even most of their buddies for the day were crying by the time they reached where we were standing and cheering. They were preceded by the flag and followed by a whole bunch of bagpipes. It was so moving.

The reason why I have this as one of my change posts is because all throughout the night people were talking about how when the guys and gals came home from war, they were not celebrate for their efforts like they are now, thanks to the Honor Flight.

I think this is an amazing program and am so thankful that Gpa was able to participate. He was so happy and energetic for the rest of the week! These men and women need to know that our generations and the generations to follow are still mindful of and grateful for the freedom they provided us.

Thank a vet today.
