Fix It Friday!

I love this competition! It's so exciting to take a photo and see how unique you can make it. This is my first official entry into the iheartfaces challenge. I'm so thankful for this opportunity to learn more! They are a great resource, so check them out! This photo is originally by Michelle Johnson.

Firsts

This weekend our little man had a lot of firsts!

Saturday morning he had his first horseback ride on a horse named Dakota with his Daddy holding him tight. He was on a horse with his mommy for the first time, too.

Sunday was his first day here to celebrate Father's Day with his dad. Then, he had his first boat ride, he dipped his feet in a lake for the first time, was in a life jacket for the first time, and used a sippy cup for the first time! He loves that cup  :)  Oh, yeah, and we had a need for sunscreen on him for the first time.

Sunday night, he met the first girl born to our group of friends, Malia Kay. She is just so precious.

Big weekend!

beginnings and ends

as we celebrate daily the little accomplishments of our son as he is learning to be a human, it is strange to contemplate death.

j's grandmother passed away tonight. when i heard the news, i cried. even when death is a celebration because we know that the person is finally home and hanging out with Jesus, it is still hard to say goodbye. it is hard to know that they are now just a group of stories, memories. all we have of them is what we already had. there is pain in that. her life has ended.

jake's is just beginning. that is something else to celebrate.

so is the fact that he sat up by himself for about a half an hour today. he's such a stud.

more photos

Hi all,

We have some new bathtub photos in the month 5 album and some new month 6 photos up since Jake is 6 months old today! They aren't that great because it's a rainy day up here in GB and that means clouds. Clouds mean that it's dark in my living room where I take the photos. I could really use an upgrade on my lens and flash. Part of me wonders if I should be taking him to one of those in-store studios for the big months... like today. I wish I would've gotten some nice photos of the 3 of us when he was first born and I'm afraid I'll regret not getting some "professional" photos done for his 6 month 'birthday'... I mean, really, who knows how I'll feel about the photos I've taken of him so far in a few years. I'll either think they were perfectly adequate or I'll think they were totally silly and I should have gotten them professionally done. I guess we'll see! Either way, I hope to put up others when the sun is better. We also had a really full day and so I ended up taking them at nap time so he was kinds of out of it! Oops!

Hope you enjoy them anyway!

What we're up to...

Hey there family,

There are some new photos up on the other website.

I just wanted to let you know that Jake will be turning 6 months old on Friday but he has been sitting up by himself for about 5-10 seconds at a time for at least 2 weeks now and has been saying, "da da" for about a week. It's so fun to see. He's just adorable. He just has no desire to roll over. I have no doubt that he could do it if he wanted to because I've seen him have the ability. He just doesn't care. Oh well.  :)

 look mom, no props!

Jacob's Dedication

We are so blessed with the church family that we have. AND, we are so SO blessed by our actual family members who came up to Jake's dedication. It was such a special moment for us. So, thank you to all of you who were there.

That day was a great reminder of God's faithfulness and provision for us. Times are very tough for young families right now but God is good and He has been answering my prayers in so many ways. Not always on my timing (because I am sinful and impatient), but always right.

The few photos I did take this weekend are up on the photo site and I put up the video, too. Nice to be able to have a video of what the pastor actually prayed. Things like this end up being such a blur because they pass by so quickly.

Big Day

So, I know this isn't possible yet because he's only just about to turn 5 months but today when Jake and John were lying on the ground together, John kept saying, "Say 'dada'," to Jake like he has been since the day he was born. Jake was saying all sorts of things and was kicking and batting at the toys and giggling and having a great time. All the sudden he grew silent and was focused on John. John repeated himself again and all of a sudden Jake hollered out, "DA!" It was sweet.

And then, later John was putting him down for some play time in his crib and John was able to witness for the first time Jake rolling from his tummy to his back!  :)  I saw Jake do it 2 weeks ago but he hasn't done it since. He did it twice for John today.

Big day at the Tutas house.
